Maxis: Enough Said

Of all the millions of computer games that have crossed in and out of my life, my timeless favorite is The Sims.
I was 8 years old when this game came out.
But the glory was that I could make my simulated character to fit any persona I wanted.
If I didn't want to be the only weird 8yr old girl playing video games...I didn't have to be.
I literally grew up with this game.
From the original Sims, to Block Party, Hot Date, and beyond the Sims 2, I've been there.
Months ago I counted up all the money spent on my Sims collection.
It totals well over 800 dollars.
Back then, 40 dollars a game was nothing to me.
Was it too much to ask for an alternate reality?
I sure didn't think so.

I loved the Sims, and still hold quite some admiration for Maxis, because it thought outside the box.
In reality it took the box away all together.
Open ended with endless possibilities.
The chance to explore things that I hadn't quite got to in real life.
I mean how would I know how to raise a child without the technology of the Sims 2?
I could never hold a steady relationship if I had not had red, green, and yellow indicators over guys heads telling me whether my next move was appropriate.
I may never have even put ladders in my pool if it weren't for those many unfortunate Sims who lost their lives to curiosity.

All I'm saying is... if it weren't for the Rosebud cheat...I may never know how to make money in life.
Hats off to Maxis, and the original Sims, Bella and Mortimer Goth, for showing the world how to succeed.
